But maybe, for some reason, you want to disable this type of notification. For example, if you don’t want to change the program which opens your file, this notification could be very annoying. To disable this notification, you need to apply a simple Registry workaround, which changes the appropriate Group Policy setting.

Go to Search, type regedit, and open Registry Editor
Go to the following Registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
Create a new DWORD value called NoNewAppAlert, and set it to 1
Now log out of your user account and log in again. Or run GPUpdate.exe /force from a command prompt with administrative rights without logging out, in order to update the policy settings

That’s all, this annoying notification is now disabled. But if you change your mind and decide to enable it once again, just set the NoNewAppAlert value data to 0, and you’re good to go.
