Our iPhones are our life. There is so much we do on these devices that help get us through the day. Keeping our iPhones charged and ready is an important part of our routines.
In the case of a quick charge, turning Low Power mode on for your iPhone will help charge your iPhone faster. This will make your iPhone limit the amount of background applications.
Let’s look at why Low Power mode can optimize your charge and how you can help your iPhone charge faster in a pinch.
Does Low Power Mode Help Your iPhone Charge Faster?
Low Power mode automatically starts when your iPhone hits about 10 to 20 percent power. It’s there to conserve power.
That being said, the way it conserves power is by cutting down on the number of background apps that are running. Anything that doesn’t need to be running won’t be.
Note that Low Power mode will automatically turn off when your iPhone hits 80 percent.
So, if you are looking for a full charge, the Low Power mode will give you a boost but won’t complete the job.
Turning on Low Power Mode
Since it’s been established that Low Power mode can be helpful, and definitely can’t hurt to use. Besides draining your battery to almost nothing, can you choose to turn on this mode?
Yes! In some of the older iOS, there was a button in the drop-down. Now you have to follow a small number of steps.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down till you see Battery. It will be in the second section right above Privacy and Security
- Low Power Mode will be the second option from the top. Here you can toggle it on or off.
Remember that an older iPhone will not hold a charge as well as a newer one.
Now, Low Power mode is just one of the ways you can optimize your charging capabilities. Let’s look at other ways to help quickly charge your dying battery.
Ways to Quickly Charge your iPhone
As mentioned above, Low Power mode can help charge your iPhone battery faster, but there are other ways to help with this issue.
There are four different ways that you can quickly charge your iPhone outside of low power mode:
- Choosing the right cord and block
- Charging on the wall outlet
- Using Airplane mode
- Using Focus Mode
Here’s our guide on the best ways to charge your iPhone:
Let’s look at the first one, which is the easiest to implement.
Choosing the Right Cord and Block
The first way we want to look at is by choosing the right cord and outlet. You want to ensure that your cord has no frays or damages.
A damaged cord isn’t going to give you a good charge. It might be smart to examine or change out your cord regularly.
Take a good look at the type of block you use for your cord. The blocks designed with Apple products in mind will give you a better charge.
Also, ensure your iPhone’s charging port is cleaned out and free of dirt and debris.
Charging on Computer vs. Wall Outlet
There can be some debate on what is more useful. Plugging into the wall outlet or another device. Let’s look at both:
It looks like there might be more to the computer side, but it’s simple. When you plug your iPhone into your computer, it has to work harder to get that charge.
This is because USB outlets on computers only charge at about .5 amps. So it’s going to take twice as long to charge.
On the other hand, when you plug it into the wall directly, it doesn’t have to work so hard to get the charge to your iPhone. This makes it easier, and the amps go up.
Keep in mind that you should also not use your iPhone while it’s charging.
Airplane Mode
Airplane mode was created so that you could use your iPhone while still sitting on an airplane.
Airplane mode helps with charging since it turns off notifications, WiFi, and even your network connection.
Without all these apps, messages, and connections running in the background of your iPhone, it allows your iPhone to focus on the one thing you want it to do: charge.
If you don’t want to go into Airplane mode, you can also turn off the Bluetooth and WiFi on your iPhone to block those signals.
Focus Mode
Focus mode is like Do Not Disturb. It’s going to silence calls, notifications, and text messages, allowing your iPhone to charge in peace.
You can still set up your Focus mode to allow notifications from certain people, but if you are trying to let your iPhone charge, you might not want to set up this setting.
Quick Charging your iPhone
Charging your iPhone on Low Power mode definitely works for getting a faster charge. Plugging directly into the wall, placing your iPhone on Airplane mode, and more can also help.
If you rely on your iPhone for many reasons, keep an eye on your battery and watch what drains your charge. Keeping your iPhone cool can also help. May your charge be swift and fruitful.
