An essential aspect of an efficient smart home is the integration of various products, so I wanted to know if Google Home Hub works with Ring cameras. To answer this question, I did a lot of online research and compiled the information I collected below.

Does Google Home Hub work with Ring cameras? Google Home Hub cannot display Ring camera’s feed or recorded videos, but you can ask the Hub to start a new recording, receive notifications, and check the status of the camera.

Google Home Hub and Ring Compatibility

You cannot view a Ring camera stream or recorded videos on a Google Home Hub.

According to Google, the Google Home Hub works in a limited capacity with Ring cameras. You can perform the following functions through voice control:

  • Start a 30-second recording.Receive the most recent notification from the camera.Check the health of the camera.

I don’t know if it’s my specific problem, but I am not able to get Ring to interact with my Google Home at all.

I tried checking on the health of my device or asking it when the last time someone rang my doorbell, but no luck!

Ring does not include Google Home on its list of compatible devices. Therefore, according to Ring, their cameras do not work with Google Home Hub at all. If you’re like me, you may have considered selling your Ring for a Nest Hello. If you do, here is how you change the owner of your Ring device.

It’s Complicated

Many users have cited issues connecting their Ring device to their Google Home Hub. If you experience issues, I recommend calling Google Assistance customer service for help.

Set up Ring with Google Home

It will ask you for permission to authorize this link.

Google Home Compatibility

If you already have a Google Home Hub and are looking for a security camera with more compatibility, there are many options. Click here for the full list of compatible cameras.

I recommend a Nest camera because Nest is owned by Google which ensures compatibility with your Google Home device. Nest makes an indoor and outdoor version of their home security camera. To shop for Nest cameras, follow this link.

If you would like more options for various types of cameras, I recommend Arlo products. Arlo offers four different wireless indoor/outdoor cameras which can be compared here. They also have four indoor-only camera options as well as security lights and doorbells.
