Peloton is an at-home gym manufacturer that primarily focuses on stationary bikes that are loaded with features and classes/guides to supplement your workout regimen. It’s essentially a smart bike/treadmill capable of integrating with both iOS and Android software to access various fitness videos and programs. But can it also work with Chromecast?

Peloton does work with Chromecast, and in February of 2020, Peloton added Chromecast support for iOS, so it’s now compatible with either the iOS or Android system’s casting capabilities.

Since its inception, Peloton has been able to cast to Chromecast devices but only through Android. It wasn’t until 2020 that Chromecast compatibility translated to iOS. By then, the popularity of Peloton exploded, so that may explain some of their expanded capabilities. Read on to learn more about using Chromecast with Peloton.

How to Use Chromecast with the Peloton App

This is probably already the case, but it’s always worth mentioning that you should have all of these devices—Chromecast, TV, Peloton—on the same WiFi network so that all of them will work with each other.

You also need to make sure that you have downloaded the Peloton app, in case you’ve just unboxed your Peloton bike or treadmill and are trying to get started for the first time. There are a few prerequisites to consider before you get started:

  • Have your Google Chromecast Dongle plugged inSame WiFi for all devicesPeloton app installed on your smartphone (iOS and Android).

You can also use a PC to connect your Peloton to Chromecast, which we will cover below. Don’t be confused with the Miracast and Airplay options for Android and Apple devices, respectively. We’re only focused on Chromecast, although the other casting options will be available when you use it as well.

Android Devices

To cast with Peloton devices through an Android device:

  • Open your Peloton app and log in.Choose the fitness video that you want to watch.Start the video. You will see a Cast symbol at the bottom, right-hand corner of the video.Select the Cast Symbol.Choose Chromecast from the menu that opens. The video will transfer to your TV through Chromecast.

If you have other available casting software, it will pop up along with the Chromecast option, so be sure to select Chromecast. Also, if you named your Chromecast something else when you originally set it up, it will probably pop up under the name you chose for it.

Apple Devices

To cast content from the Peloton app from an Apple device:

  • Open the Peloton app and log in.Choose the fitness video that you want to watch.Start the video. When you see the Cast symbol on the bottom right, select it.Choose Chromecast, rather than Airplay. The video will transfer to your TV, through Chromecast.

As you can see, the app and how you use it to Chromecast to your TV is almost identical to the process that you would use with an Android device. Either way, it’s a relatively simple process, and it’s also quick and responsive. You don’t have to worry about long buffering symbols or lag with the audio or video.

How to Chromecast Peloton with a PC

You don’t need an Android or an Apple smartphone to Chromecast your Peloton workout class. You can do the same thing with a PC or a Mac. There are a few extra steps involved, but it will still get you there in the end.

Make sure that you have the Chrome browser downloaded and updated before you get started. Then:

  • Launch the Chrome web browser.Go to the Peloton website.Select the three, horizontal lines symbol on the top right.Sign in.Choose the video that you want to watch.Select the Cast icon at the top, right of the video.Select your Chromecast device from the menu.In the Chrome browser, you will see another Cast icon at the very top right of the screen.Select that icon as well.

Since all of this takes place in the Chrome browser, it doesn’t matter whether you use a Mac or a PC; the process will remain the same. And, like your smartphones, your PC or Mac will also Chromecast your Peloton exercise videos to your smart TV.

How to Use Chromecast with a Peloton Bike or Treadmill

You can also Chromecast directly from your Peloton Bike or Treadmill:

  • Select Classes on your built-in Peloton screenThe Cast icon will be on the bottom, right of the video for you to selectSelect your Chromecast device when it pops up

There are so many different ways to Chromecast with a Peloton Bike or Treadmill that you’re bound to have one of them, especially since Peloton workout devices come with a screen equipped that also happens to be compatible with Chromecast.

Final Thoughts

Peloton Bikes and Treadmills are designed with casting capabilities. So whether you choose to go with Chromecast or another means of casting, it’s streamlined, responsive, and fast.

Now that Peloton has upgraded to utilize Chromecast with Apple devices, the bases are pretty well covered in terms of all of the different Chromecast options.
