The Wyze Thermostat is a smart home device that controls your home’s temperature through an app, allowing you to change the temperature remotely to save energy and keep your pets comfortable even when you’re not home. But, if you also use Google Home, you might be wondering if there is a way to link the two smart devices together.

The Wyze Thermostat can work with your Google Home Mini, Google Nest Mini, or Google Nest Hub when you set it up in the Wyze app. You can then use voice commands to adjust the temperature of your home and other thermostat settings. You can also use the Google Home app to check your thermostat when you are away.

You might still be wondering how to set up the thermostat with your Google Home. Don’t worry; we will go over all the setup steps in this article. We will also discuss the voice commands you can use and which features of the Wyze Thermostat are supported in the Google Home app.

Does Wyze Thermostat Work with Google Home?

The Wyze Thermostat works with any Google Assistant voice-activated speakers, like the Google Home Mini and the Google Nest Mini or Hub.

Here are some voice commands you can try with Google Home when you want to adjust the temperature. Always start by saying “Hey, Google” or “OK, Google,” then say your command:

  • “Raise the temperature by 3 degrees.”“Lower the temperature by 2 degrees.”“Set the temperature to 70.”“Make the house cooler.”“Make the house warmer by 2 degrees.”

You can also use voice commands to switch between cooling and heating modes. Similarly to the other commands, start with “Hey, Google,” or “OK, Google,” then:

  • “Set the thermostat to cooling mode.”“Turn the thermostat to cool-heat mode.”“Turn on the heat mode.”

Try to keep your commands short and only use the necessary words. Google Assistant will also respond to the world “temp” in place of “temperature.” For a full list of voice commands for thermostats, check out Google’s full guide.

How Do I Sync Wyze with Google Home?

Connecting your Wyze Thermostat to your Google Home can be done in just a few simple steps.

First, you will need to set up the thermostat in the Wyze app:

  • If this is your first Wyze device, download the Wyze app onto your smartphone and create an account.Tap Home.Tap the plus sign in the top left corner.Select Add Device.Tap Home.Select Wyze Thermostat.Tap Begin Preparation.

Note: If you haven’t installed your thermostat yet, you can watch this video setup guide. It should only take about 30 minutes to get the thermostat mounted on the wall. Make sure you have the appropriate C wire or adapter available for installation.

Now that you have the thermostat ready, you can sync it with your Google Home app. Make sure your Google Nest Mini or Hub is set up and in your Google Home App before connecting it to the thermostat. Also, ensure that your smart speaker is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Wyze Thermostat.

To connect your Google speaker with the Wyze Thermostat in the Google Home app:

  • Open your Google Home App.Tap Add.Tap Set Up Device.Tap Works with Google.Scroll down until you see the Wyze Home Listing.Log into your Wyze account.

The Google Home will now sync and receive data from all your Wyze devices. Note that all of your Wyze devices will link to the Google Home, not just the thermostat. There is no way to select individual devices with the way Wyze and Google have the connection set up.

If you want to unlink the thermostat from your Google Home in the future, you can follow this guide.

What Wyze Thermostat Features Does the Google Home App Support?

The Wyze app will allow you to control all the thermostat’s functions. In the Google Home app, though, you can only control certain features:

  • Change the modes between heat and cool.Adjust the temperature to a certain degree.Change the temperature higher or lower by a certain degree.

Note that adjusting the degree of the temperature is only possible when the thermostat is not in Auto mode. The Auto mode is not currently supported in the Google Home App. If your thermostat is in auto mode and you want to change the temperature, you will have to use the Wyze app or physically change it on the thermostat’s buttons. However, you can still change the heat and cool modes if the thermostat is in Auto mode.

Wyze integration with the Google Home App is currently only supported in the USA despite the devices being sold worldwide. Some users based in other countries have had success using a VPN with their Google router or Wi-Fi to integrate the two devices. However, the success varies, and the VPN usually only supports certain features.

In Summary

Using the Wyze Thermostat with your Google Home is easy and can be set up using the Google Home App in just a few minutes. You can then use voice commands to alter the temperature or switch between heating and cooling modes with ease.
