Many users are eagerly waiting for the release of the new Microsoft Edge browser. Microsoft watcher @WalkingCat recently leaked the download links of the Chromium Edge stable installer.

However, this seems to be an accidental release as the installer doesn’t work as expected.

At the time of writing this article, those who tried to run the installer encountered the error “There was a problem installing due to a server issue“.

However, the Beta version installs without any problems. If you look closely, the beta version of Microsoft Edge is still on the version 76.0.182.19. Moreover, the Canary and Dev channels have moved to version 77.

The early release of the beta version hints that Microsoft is launching the testing process very soon. It seems like the leaked beta build install didn’t go well for many.

The recent reports suggest that the browser crashes very often, or completely fails to launch sometimes. Furthermore, the browser is occasionally unresponsive and slow on some webpages as well.

Twitter user @san_jaguar confirmed that sync does not work in the recent release.

We are pretty sure that the list of issues does not end here. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you should preferably wait until Edge is officially released.

and the sync will not work still, why they bother with STABLE then, it’s embarrassing

No ETA available

None of these builds are currently available to download from Microsoft’s official website. It remains to be seen if Microsoft deliberately blocked the stable build or the installer didn’t work before the release.

Although Microsoft has not announced any release date yet, the stable build is expected by the end of this year.

If we compare the new Microsoft Edge with classic Edge, Chromium Edge offers improved performance. Moving further, it also provides additional addon support.

As a quick reminder, Microsoft Edge is still work in progress and many new features are currently in the pipeline.

The official release is expected to bring offline deployment, improved PDF support and more. Microsoft stated in a recent AMA session on Reddit.
