Enpass is one of the popular password managers for Windows 10 that still supports Windows 10 Mobile along with the other platforms. The new Enpass app will replace the current one on the Windows Store.
That being said despite supporting other browsers like Chrome the Enpass didn’t support Microsoft Edge browser, that is until now. Enpass has started to support Microsoft Edge browser for things like auto-filling of login details, credit card information all within the browser. On a related note, the Microsoft Edge is finally getting its due share of extensions, ones that really matter.
The Enpass team had earlier shared that they were working on a browser extension for the Edge browser. The team had apparently hit a bottleneck when it realised the limitations of the Edge API’s and the difficulty in making them work with the password manager. Well, that is past now and Enpass is all set to release the Extension on the Windows Store. The app maker will also be making minor changes to the app.
Enpass currently has two variants of its app, one is a usual Win32 app and the other is the UWP app that we talked about until now. The UWP app offers extra features like Cortana Integration and Windows Hello integration, however, the browser extension will only work with the Win32 installs. It is for this reason that Enpass has ported the app to the Windows Store by using the Desktop Bridge.
In all likelihood, the current UWP app is expected to be rolled back once the desktop app morphs into the modern design and will feature Cortana Integration. The new app is a stop-gap arrangement for Enpass users but moving on to the feature we should be able to see a unified free app for the PC. The bright part, however, is that the folks of Enpass will still be offering the UWP app for the Windows 10 Mobile users and that indeed is a thoughtful gesture.
