Microsoft has recently rolled out three new updates in order to improve privacy settings and protect Windows 10 computers against cyber attacks taking advantage of the Spectre vulnerabilities. The three additional updates are the following:
- Windows 10 version 1803 KB4100347
- Windows 10 KB4091660 (This patch is available for Windows 10 v1703)
- Windows 10 KB4134661 (This patch is available for Windows 10 v1709).
Update KB4100347 actually bring new microcode updates for Intel processors to block Spectre threats. It is worth mentioning that this update also includes Intel microcode updates that were already released for these operating systems at the time of release to manufacturing.
Windows 10 April Update KB4100347 is the only patch that’s available via Windows Update. You can download and install it automatically bu turning on automatic updates. If your computer has not detected it yet, you can simply go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and hit the ‘Check for updates’ button.
On the other hand, KB4090007 and KB4091666 are available only as stand-alone updates and you can download them from Microsoft’s Update Catalog website. These two updates offer users more information about privacy-related settings on the Windows 10 April Update.
