Windows 11 removed the Search bar from Taskbar in order to optimize the user interface. However, it seems that we’re getting something similar in form of a Windows 11 desktop search bar.
The new Windows 11 desktop search bar is only for insiders right now
Every search made through the Windows 11 Search bar on desktop will default to Edge, ignoring your already preselected browser.
Thus, we’ll show you how to disable or enable this Search bar from displaying on your desktop.
Easy migration: use the Opera assistant to transfer exiting data, such as bookmarks, passwords, etc.
Optimize resource usage: your RAM memory is used more efficiently than Chrome does
Enhanced privacy: free and unlimited VPN integrated
No ads: built-in Ad Blocker speeds up loading of pages and protects against data-mining
Download Opera
You might not have noticed it for a while, but the Redmond-based tech company is still trying to push as many users as possible into defaulting to Edge when it comes to browsers.
Some users don’t prefer using the search feature, and in fact, they are looking for ways to disable search in Windows 11. While others, are looking for ways to fix the search indexing after it was turned off.
How does the Windows 11 Desktop search bar work?
The search bar works as an address bar, and it allows you to visit any page or search the web right from the Desktop.
Once you enter your search term, the Edge browser will automatically open and search for your query.
Thus, if you aren’t a fan of the idea of a new way to browse the web but do not appreciate Microsoft forcing you to use Edge, voice your concerns in the Feedback Hub.
