By default, most of the tiles on Windows 10 Start menu display the name of the app or program with its icon. Some apps support live tile feature and automatically refresh the tile on the Start menu to display latest content.
Like other new features, the Start menu in Windows 10 is not free from issues. Most of the users who have been running Windows 10 since its release have experienced problem with the Start menu at least once.
Blank tiles on Windows 10 Start menu
The blank tiles are one of the common issues of Windows 10. At times, while using the Start menu in Windows 10, you might notice that some of the tiles on the Start menu are blank and not displaying anything.
If one or more tiles on the Start menu are blank, you can follow the given below directions to quickly fix the issue.
Method 1 of 3
Restart Windows Explorer
Step 1: Open This PC, Quick Access or any other folder located anywhere in your Windows 10 PC.
Step 2: Open Task Manager. There are plenty of ways out there to open Task Manager in Windows 10, but the easiest way is to right-click on the Start button and then click Task Manager.
Step 3: Once the Task Manager is opened, click More details button to view the full version of Task Manager.
Step 4: Switch to the Processes tab, right-click on Windows Explorer, and then click Restart option to restart the File Explorer as well as Start menu.
The Start menu should now display tiles with information instead of blank tiles.

Use the official Start menu troubleshooter
There is an official Start menu repair tool (troubleshooter) for Windows 10 to troubleshoot and fix various types of Start menu issues, including blank tiles.
If restarting the Windows Explorer (mentioned in the method above) didn’t help, you could try running the official Start menu troubleshooter. Unpin and re-pin the app tile to Start menu
If above solutions didn’t help you fix the issue, you can unpin the tile from the Start and then pin the same to fix the blank tile problem. A tile can be unpinned by right-clicking on the tile and then clicking Unpin from Start option. To pin a tile, right-click on an app in the Start menu or Start menu search and then click Pin to Start option.
