Incorrect Password While Connecting to WiFi on iPhone

Sometimes, iPhone can suddenly decide that your WiFi Password is not correct, even though you are entering the right password.

This problem can occur due to minor technical glitches, corrupted network settings, router being reset and other reasons.

1. Make Sure You Are Entering the Right Password

In case you are not aware, iPhone passwords are case sensitive. Hence, make sure that you are entering the right password.

2. Move Closer to Router

Sometimes, the problem is due to the WiFi reception being weak or interrupted. Hence, move closer to the Router and try to join WiFi Network.

3. Enable Auto-Join

Go to Settings > WiFi > tap on your WiFi Network. On the next screen, make sure the toggle next to Auto-Join is set to ON position.

4. Enable and Disable Airplane Mode

Open Settings > Enable Airplane Mode by moving the toggle to ON position. Wait for 30 seconds and disable Airplane Mode by moving the toggle to OFF position.

Enabling and then disabling Airplane Mode can fix network connectivity problems by resetting the wireless antennas on your iPhone.

5. Forget WiFi Network and Rejoin

Sometimes, the problem is due to saved network information on your iPhone becoming faulty or corrupted.

Go to Settings > WiFi > tap on your WiFi Network. On the next screen, select Forget This Network option.

After forgetting the Network, wait for 60 seconds and rejoin your WiFi Network by entering your WiFi Network Password.

6. Restart Modem/Router

The problem might be due to your Modem/Router going through a technical glitch.

Switch OFF the Power Supply to your Modem/Router by using ON/OFF button (if available) or by pulling the Power cable from wall socket.

Wait for 60 seconds and switch ON the Power Supply to Modem/Router.

8. Reset Network Settings

If above methods did not help, Reset Network Settings on your iPhone to original or Factory Default settings by going Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

After iPhone restarts, you should be able to join WiFi Network by entering your WiFi Network Password.

9. Try the Original Password

This solution is applicable, only if you have manually performed a Factory Reset on your Router. A Factory Reset erases all saved network credentials and resets the device to Factory Default settings.

You should be able to find the original User Name and Password at the back of the Router or in the manual that came with your Router.

In many cases, the Username is Admin and the Password is either “Password” or blank.
