When you install an app from the Store, the app’s entry is automatically added to the Start menu that you can easily launch the program from the Start menu. The Start menu entry of the app can also be used to quickly uninstall the app, pin the app’s shortcut to Start menu and taskbar.

Usually, the app’s entry shows up in the Start menu immediately upon installing the app. However, at times, the app might not show up in the Start menu for some reason.

If the installed app is not showing up in the Start menu, you can try the given below solutions to add the app to the Start menu again.

Repair the app to add its entry to Start menu

Mentioning this method at the top of the list as this method worked for us. As you likely know, recent versions of Windows 10 offer an option to repair installed apps.

When you repair an app, the app is repaired by retaining its data (without deleting the app data). This method automatically adds an entry to the Start menu. So, should work! Here is how to do that:

Step 1: Open the Settings app. Navigate to Apps > Apps & features.

Step 2: Click on the app’s entry and then click Advanced options link. For instance, if the Open Live Writer app’s entry is missing, click on it its entry. Note that if the app’s entry is appearing in the installed apps list, it’s likely because the app has not been installed.

Step 3: Scroll down the page. Click on the Repair button to repair the app without deleting the app’s data. If the Repair option is not available for the app, click on the Reset button.

Check the Start menu now. The app’s entry should now show up.

Rebuild the search index

Use this method only if the app’s entry is present in the Start menu (manually check for the same) but the search is not showing it in its results. Please refer to our how to rebuild the search index in Windows 10 article for step-by-step directions.

As a last resort, you can reinstall the app by uninstalling it and then installing a fresh copy of the same from the Store.
