Solution 1 – Remove and download your Xbox One profile
If you’re getting Failed to read profile error message on your console, it might be because your profile is corrupted. The simplest way to fix this problem is to remove your profile and download it again, and you can do that by following these steps:
- Scroll left on the Home screen to open the Guide.
- Choose Settings > All Settings.
- In Account section select Remove accounts.
- Select the account that you want to remove and choose Remove.
- After you’re done, select Close.
After deleting your Xbox One profile, you need to recreate it again by following these steps:
- Scroll left on the Home screen to open the Guide.
- On the Sign in tab move all the way down and select Add & manage option.
- Select Add new option.
- Now enter your Microsoft account login information.

Solution 2 – Remove save game files
Sometimes this error can be caused by corrupted save game files, and in order to fix it you need to remove those files from your console. Keep in mind that these files are stored on Xbox Live servers as well, so you progress won’t be affected if you delete them. To remove local saved game files do the following:
Go to My games and apps section.
Select the problematic game and press the Menu button on the controller.
Select Manage game from the menu.
Scroll to the right and highlight saved game file in Saved Data section.
Press the A button on the controller.
Choose Delete from console option and wait until the save game files are removed.
