The latest Windows 10 build brings many new interesting features, but also a few issues of its own. One of the biggest changes build 14942 brings is the service host separation, resulting in an increased number of processes in Task Manager.

  • Download DriverFix (verified download file).

  • Click Start Scan to find all problematic drivers.

  • Click Update Drivers to get new versions and avoid system malfunctionings.

The good news is that there is nothing to worry about, as the increased number of processes makes your system more reliable and transparent, and it doesn’t impact its overall performance, on the contrary.

However, Xbox sign-ins may fail, as a result of service host separation, as many Insiders have already noticed.

This is a known issue, and fortunately, there’s also a quick workaround you can use to fix this bug:

Anyone else experiencing this issue? I have upgraded 3 computers today to build 14942. However, after the upgrade, none of the users can log into any of the apps/games that us their Xbox Live account: Xbox app, Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition beta, Groove (launches, but will not play any Groove Pass content).

  • Run the following from an admin Command Prompt (or edit the registry accordingly):REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\XblAuthManager /v SvcHostSplitDisable /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
  • Reboot the system, so that XblAuthManager can share a service host process with Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer Service.

Since this is a known issue for Microsoft, the next Windows 10 build should fix it permanently. Meanwhile, if you can’t sign-in to your Xbox account, follow the troubleshooting steps listed above to solve the issue.

If this solution doesn’t help, this means your sign-in error is not related to the service host separation. In this case, check out our dedicated article for Xbox One sign-in errors, we found 12 workarounds for this type of problem and we’re sure one of them will help you.
